The Cumberland Presbyterian Missions Ministry Team will host a youth mission trip to Guatemala in the summer of 2010. The team will consist of 20 youth team members, ages 16 to 21 years old and adult leaders. The team will conduct English as Second Language (ESL) classes for children at the elementary school located in the Casa Shalom Orphanage. The school is operated at the orphanage for the children in the orphanage and children that live in the surrounding area. The school, orphanage and Cumberland Presbyterian medical clinic are located on the same property. The team will be housed at the orphanage. The team will attend orientation in Birmingham, AL starting on June 30th, 2010. Team members will receive training in ESL techniques at orientation and be accompanied by an ESL instructor. The Youth Mission Team will deploy to Guatemala on July 3rd and return to the USA on July 19th. Each team member will need to raise $1,575 to cover the cost of the mission tour of service. Guatemala is our newest mission field; this will give the team an opportunity to learn about the work of our mission in Guatemala and an opportunity to interact with children and youth. We are seeking responsible and mature youth to be team members.
